I believe that this quote meant that you should focus on the things that are good in all different ways, you should not focus on the bad influences. I believe that this is true because if you keep thinking in bad things they will bring you down and not let you succeed. For example us in the U.S should promote the things that are good and sound because they will make us look better. Another example is the for school we need to wear uniform and to promote our school to make it look good we follow the rule and that is what Joseph Smith meant for the quote on the top. In short words always choose to be a CTR person.
